Cross Fit

I did my first ever Crossfit class today. My instructor for the day was Felica Oh ( bad ass extraordinaire). What is Cross Fit? Seems like there is a big trend right now with this kind of work out. Basically it’s a strength and conditioning program. It’s fast and intense…definitely not for the weak at heart.

We did the “donkey kong work out”. We did kettlebells, ran the stairs, burpie pushups, ran the stairs and then jumped on a tire and ran the stairs then did it all over again …the workout was named after donkey kong for his work on the stairs :) . We did set of 21 then 15 then 9. So 21 kettlebell lifts then ran the stairs, 21 burpies…stairs, then jumped on and off a giant tire 21 times then did it again with reps of 15 and then again with reps of 9. My time for my very first donkey kong work out was 10:41. Not great but not bad

My effing legs are KILLING ME. I did a heavy duty leg workout the day before…squats and leg presses…the real deal…then this work out…what the hell was I thinking. My calves feel like they are going to explode. It’s time to soak in a tub. Will write more later.

    Ran across this post while I was researching a post I am writing now…. and you got me wondering. How did you like your first CF workout – and have you gone back? Hooked? 10:41 on that workout sounds pretty damn good – regardless the kb weight and the stairs distance. Great work!
